Let's discuss 'A degree, a pile of applications, no job offers for new grads'.

It was an old college dogma, preached by many higher education institutions for years -- A college degree equals a job. But tell that to graduates from the class of 2009 and chances are their responses will be somewhat scathing.

Sorry to say but companies that make profit are pretty scarce these day. You mite try applying for a job that preys off of people and their incomes.

Something in "government" or "law enforcement".

Hell...That should get you started.

If hindsight is 20/20...Then why do we look ahead instead of behind?

I made a post a few weeks ago stating that there are jobs to be had in the Dallas/Ft Worth, TX area.  Another reader posted a negative reply to my post, stating that relocating out of state to get employment was unreasonable.  To anyone who wants to work and who is willing to relocate, the Dallas/ Worth economy is good, and there are jobs available here.  My family and I had to relocate here to find steady employment and a good quality of life for ourselves and for our family.  Maybe other people who are unemployed, will also choose to relocate, to better their lives and their future.  sattcfc

I don't believe it was a negative reply, just a realistic one. My daughter is unemployed so she has no money coming in. She therefore cannot travel to Texas and could not live there until she found a job even if she had a free way to get there. Unless there is something that we are missing in your post, it is not as easy as Come to Texas, we have jobs!. Is there something that we are not getting? What are we missing that we aren't seeing that it is a possible alternative for the majority who are unemployed here?

sattcfc is not talking about an entry level position.  Karma is correct that no one is going to move to Texas to work the night shift at Target.  However I do think it is reasonable and appreciated that sattcfc is letting those in this area know where they might find work if relocating is an option.  My parents came to Elkhart 47 years ago in the same way.  They were told that jobs were plentiful and based on that alone my father came here by himself and slept in his car until he earned enough money for an apartment.  He then brought my mother and siblings to Elkhart where I have spent most of my life.  Moving was the last thing my mother wanted to do and today can't imagine how bad her life could have been had she not accepted that there were no jobs left in her home town.

I was the one who had the "negative" reply......it was not meant the way she took it is was meant the way karma took it. Realistically the overwhelming majority of us cannot afford to drive to Michigan much less drive to texas.

Now for a real negative comment....WHY would anyone want to live in texas????? YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I had the ability to relocate it certainly would not be to texas!!!!! I'd be heading to SOUTH CAROLINA!!!!!

BUT, since I got my job back......I don't have to worry about it any more...

Boundaries & beliefs are nothing more than ideas or concepts that we have commited to & accepted as truth. They become the prison walls that we inadvertently construct around ourselves ----

Satt, I appreciate your heads up about job availability in Texas.  I've never lived in Texas...never been to Texas, but I'm sure it's a nice place to live and work.  24 million some odd folks seem to think so anyway.

Thanks again.
