Let's discuss 'Households in hard times come together to survive'.
Having to scrap with nine other people for bathroom time is probably the hardest thing. "We all want to take showers and the water gets cold," said Sabrina Chavez-Garcia.

| What is so unusual about 2 or 3 mexican families living in a single family dwelling? The story would be about non-mexican families.

| Why does this article bother me? It has nothing to do with the family being hispanic. If they would have left out names and photos, then it wouldn't bother me. But I would not like my neighbors and friends reading about me during a tough time in my life. There is a story to be told but lets have a little respect. This too will pass and we need to respect people.

| Perhaps they were trying to convey the fact that hispanics know how to make multiple families under one roof work.Things are going to get much worse before they get better.Perhaps we could learn a lesson here if that happens to us.

| That is true. Having family members move in because of diffficult times is been around for a long time. People need to learn what is important and what is not when it comes money management. Impulse buying has been the norm for generations. People have had this live for today mentality and don't think about the how they are going to keep Nipsco paid. We have to be smart with our cash. Stay out of the stores. Shopping is not a recreation, it is a necessity for necessities. Show your kids what is important. It is not the stuff you can buy but family and staying strong. I do believe hard times will teach people eventually. We will come out stronger if we keep our wits about us and not give up hope. Take courage!!!

| I think being frugal and cooperative is a great thing. Having said that, I think there's a message floating around to us average folks that if only we were X, Y, and Z, then the economy would not be what it is today. We were the end users who did as we were told. Some knew better and went against the grain. For that, they are prolly in a better position right now. But there were unelected technocrats who oversaw it, designed it, and led it. More free and infuential than congresscritters (I know the barney frank comments are coming). I wish we'd remember that more often. Because no matter how screwed up someone's life situation may be, this was NOT in their best interest. The ends do not justify the means. We did not need this so that we could become better people or have closer families. We have been severely duped and ripped off here as a whole.
