Let's discuss 'Indiana state Senate wants to take the phone out of teen driving'.
A bill that would ban drivers under 18 from using cell phones and impose other restrictions on teenage drivers passed a state Senate committee Tuesday after the panel heard emotional testimony about the dangers posed by young, inexperienced motorists. The Senate Transportation Committee voted 9-1 to endorse the bill, which now heads to the full Senate for consideration after the committee removed

| Why ban cell phone use for only drivers under the age of 18? It is a very dangerous practice, and shud be banned, PERIOD. I don't care WHAT age the driver is! Another foolish example of what Indianer legislators do, instead of doing the RIGHT thing. My gawd.

| People should be able to see right thru this. The reason they're only directing this at people under 18 is because zero percent of people under 18 can vote. 100% of people over 18 can vote. It gives the illusion that they're doing something about this problem and at the same time they're not getting the voters angry who would be against banning the use of their cell phones while driving. Of course the politicians don't want to make a law that would also ban the use of their own cell phones. These politicians are a clever bunch. Dishonest but clever.

| Politics is a business. This is like the seat belt laws where no one would be pulled over for failure to wear a seat belt...it would be a secondary crime...right? Here we go again folks! Heck...now the police can pull you over just to check to see if you are wearing the belt properly or not. No wonder the NRA is afraid to give an inch in protecting gun rights...even in zoo's like Washington D.C....Indianapolis as well.

| IMO, I could support banning cell phone use by ALL drivers. I have seen too many near accidents, and read about too many actual accidents...

| One other thing, the age group targeted is probably better at multi-tasking then most 40, 50, 60 year olds....

| I'll agree on both accounts Barry. Either ban all or none. Many people can multi-task..especially the younger generation. Heck..I can type with one hand with a drink in the other...with one eye on the computer and the other on the front door.
If hindsight is 20/20...Then why do we look ahead instead of behind?

. That's how I drive. Typing a text with one hand, my beer in the other with my knees skillfuly guiding my car down the street. Those of us who can multi-task should be left alone by nosey politicians.
